Foyer/Lounge Phase

95% Complete  |  $17,525 Estimated Completion Cost

Once again Chris Rose of New Model LLC was hired for plaster repairs. After the repairs, he again volunteered his time to help Tony Fitz, another volunteer, paint the ceiling and walls back to their original colors. With the help of volunteers Kevin Niles and Dan Neblock, the fallen green indirect lighting trough in the lounge was rebuilt and hung in its original location.

The centerpiece of the lounge was the once-missing aerial view mural of Independence. An exact color version replica has been created. With special attention to detail, this mural was captured at the exact angle and area of the original. The Piper Cherokee 180 aircraft, tail #8030W, was piloted by Brian Youngblult of Urbana and the picture was taken by Tony Fitz. The image was then blown up and printed by Signs & More of Independence. Volunteers Tony Fitz and Casey Stoner then installed the panels.

The final touches for this phase include recreating the missing artwork around the foyer entrance doors including a seaweed-style design with the comedy/drama faces centered over the doorway. Red and gold royal lattice carpet will eventually flow throughout the foyer, lounge, entrance ramps, auditorium, and aisles.

Completion costs include $1,000 for the artwork and $16,525 for the carpet and installation.
